Scholarships available in SEIP SHS for the 2016/17 academic year The Ministry of Education (MoE) wishes to inform the public especially parents, guardians and Junior High School (JHS) students that, scholarships are available in selected 125 SEIP Senior High Schools (SHSs) in all ten regions and selected districts across the country for the 2016/17 academic year. According to the MoE, to create more awareness among the public, it has placed an advertisement on the availability of the said scholarships in both the Daily Graphic and The Ghanaian Times of Wednesday, January 6, 2016 and Thursday, January 7, 2016. This was in a statement issued in Accra and signed by the Director, Public Relations of MoE, Dan Osman Mwin and copied to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation on Thursday, January 6, 2016. The statement said “it is imperative to state that the criteria that prospective beneficiaries especially JHS students currently in form three, have been clearly spelt out whilst the full list of the 125 SHSs benefiting from the project indicated in the advertisement.” Adding that “For instance, the prospective beneficiary of the scholarship scheme must be a Ghanaian, be qualified and needy, be in JHS 3 or have completed JHS and written the BECE in the past three years and have selected a school benefiting from the SEIP.” The Ministry is therefore urging all District Assemblies and District Education Offices in the affected districts to encourage parents, guardians and pupils to avail themselves of this rare opportunity. The statement is also urging all parents, guardians and prospective beneficiaries to contact the nearest District Education Office and the selected SHS where application forms for the scholarship scheme will be available and for any other assistance in this regard. “Opportunity, it is said, comes but once.” The statement concluded.
