Fire guts Kumasi Central Market Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) are still fighting a fire that swept through parts of the Kumasi Central Market in the Ashanti Region last night. More than 1,000 live birds are reported to have been burnt to death and hundreds of shops destroyed. Reports say, the fire started around 10pm in the yam market before spreading to other parts. According to the reports the fire has reached uncontrollable level with fire fighters struggling to bring it under control. Just about two months ago, parts of the market were engulfed by fire and destroyed several shops and properties. GBC
