South Africa's ANC to push for tougher anti-racism law


South Africa's governing ANC Party says it will push for tougher legislation to jail anyone guilty of racial bigotry or glorifying apartheid saying black people can no longer be treated as sub-humans.  

The nation was gripped by a racism row after an opposition Democratic Alliance DA member, Penny Sparrow, on Facebook called black people "monkeys". 

The DA party suspended her after denying she was a racist. 

The racially discriminatory apartheid system ended in South Africa in 1994. 

It was introduced in 1948 by the then-white minority government and was later declared by the UN a crime against humanity.
