Vice President Amissah-Arthur at Methodist Church watch night


Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur and his wife, Matilda, last night joined the Calvary Methodist Church in Adabraka and the Global Evangelical Church at Osu Ako Adjei both in Accra to participate in the watch night services to usher in the new year. 

He urged Ghanaians to be hopeful and was optimistic that Ghana will continue to be a beacon of democracy, rule of law and remain united with a purpose. 

The Vice President asked Ghanaians  to keep praying without ceasing and be each other's keeper. 

Dressed in white, the watch night service was characterised with drumming and dancing, singing and prayers. 

The immediate past Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Edem Tettey,  welcomed the Vice President and his wife to the Bethesda Chapel. 

In a sermon, Rt. Rev. Dr. Tettey asked Ghanaians to use 2016 to pray for the rebuilding of the moral fibre of the nation. 

Ghanaians must devote five minutes of their praying time to pray for the country for a peaceful general election.
 
Vice President Amissah- Arthur said the 2016 general election will be peaceful. He described 2016 as a year of hope for all Ghanaians.

The second family arrived at the Calvary Methodist Church about 11pm. 

The main auditorium was full to capacity. 

The church provided extra chairs and canopies to cater for the increasing number of people. Vice President Amissah- Arthur was upbeat about the prospects of 2016. 

He therefore asked the people to keep praying for the nation and especially for the vulnerable ones. 

Prayers were said for a peaceful general election, the leadership and for the country as a whole.
