Peace messages run through sermons as Christians usher in 2016 


From Ho GBC’S Volta Regional Correspondent Kosikuma Hovi reports that thousands of Christian worshipers gathered and held vigil at their various church houses to usher in the New Year amidst praises, worship and thanksgiving. 

Earlier, at about 8.00 p.m. Bible carrying Christians moved to and fro on the streets of Ho to their various worship centers.  

At about 10 p.m., the busy streets were bare and quiet with a handful of vehicular moment while the church houses were full and overflowing with believers anxious to meet the New Year. 

Radio Ghana went news team went round some of the churches where worshippers were seen singing praises and worship songs and thanking God for the New Year. 

They asked God for mercy, protection and guidance. 

The District Pastor in charge of the Ho-Fiave Victory Chapel of the Global Evangelical Church, the Rev. Samuel Sovor, in his New Year message called on Christians to be grateful for having gone through a rather challenging year. 

He called on Ghanaians to pray for peace in the 2016 electioneering and charged Christians to lead the crusade for peace before, during and after the elections.
 
At the Grace Temple of the Ho-Bankoe Church of Pentecost, the District Pastor, the Rev. Seth Okletey-Narh also urged Christians to enter the New Year with hope and faith.
 
They must be sensitive and listen to the voice of God for direction. 

In the Miracle temple Ministry Chapel, Bishop George Kunu called on Christians not to shy away from the truth which is a prerequisite for the attainment of a just and peaceful society. 

He appealed to politicians to avoid insults and indecent language in their various campaign messages but rather attack bad issues and policies. 

In the Ho-Bankoe Elorm Parish of the E.P. Church, the Director of Evangelism and the District Pastor, the Rev. E. A. Tumfour, in his message noted that the year 2016 is unique as Ghanaians will again showcase to the global community that democracy has taken a firm root in the country through free and fair elections. 

He charged the churches to use their unique position to prevail on their members to put Ghana first in their politicking.
