Police in Bono-Ahafo arrests two suspected robbers


Police in Bono-Ahafo have arrested two suspected armed robbers who escaped and were on the run after an operation that resulted in a shoot-out with the Police at Kasoa in the Central Region about a month ago.  

A Police officer died in that shoot out. 
 
The two, were named as Kweku Bedu, 29 alias King Kong and Ishmael Ahenkorah, 19.  

They were part of a gang of five robbers, which engaged in the robbery at Kasoa.  

Thanks to a tip-off, the two of their accomplices were arrested while a third was shot dead by the Police during the shoot-out.  

Disclosing this to the GBC in Sunyani, the Bono-Ahafo Regional Police PRO, ASP Christopher Tawiah, revealed that the arrests took place at Goaso in the Asunafo North District of Bono-Ahafo thanks to a tip-off. 
 
During the arrest they had in their possession a Toyota TD bus, with registration number, GT8086-10, believed to have been snatched from the owner in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.  

The two According to the Police PRO are being interrogated for more information and could be sent to the Central Region to help in investigations into the Kasoa incident which claimed the life of a Policeman.  

Meanwhile, the Police in Bono-Ahafo have also apprehended a Suspect in Police enlistment fraud and are urging members of the Public who might have fallen victim to the suspect to come forward to assist in investigations. The suspect, a retired Military man was named as Corporal Francis Kunlen, 58.  

He was picked up in Accra, after he was made to believe that a Victim was ready with the 2000 Ghana Cedis he was demanding to get him enlisted into the Ghana Police Service. 
 
He was arrested when a driver he sent to collect the money during the sting operation led the Police to his hideout at Omajor near Sowutuom in Accra. 
 
The would be Victim, aware that the Police had officially not advertised any enlistment drive alerted the Police when Mr. Kunlen claimed he could get him enlisted for a fee of 2000 Ghana Cedis.
