FDA determined to rid markets of expired products 

Unwholesome goods worth fifty thousand Ghana cedis have been seized and destroyed by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in the Upper East Region. 

The goods were collected over a period of three months under its Post Surveillance Activities which ensures goods sold in markets are safe for consumption. 

The Regional Director of the FDA, Braimah Zachariah, said the products were retrieved from shops, supermarkets, shell shops and at the main markets of the region.  

He said the products included can drinks, drugs, mineral water, biscuits and oil.  

Mr. Zachariah gave the assurance that the FDA will undertake such exercises to rid the markets of dangerous and expired products throughout the festive season.
