GhC40m classroom block for Atibie NTMC begins
 

Construction works on a GHȼ40 million four-storey classroom block for the Atibie Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC) to provide more space for effective teaching and learning, has begun.

The project is being implemented in phases with the phase expected to the completed within eight months.

This would come with three classrooms, skills acquisition laboratory, library, offices and washrooms.

Speaking at the ceremony to mark the official commencement of work on the block at Atibie in the Kwahu East District, Mrs. Paulina Osabutey, the Principal, said it would ease the congestion there.

The population of the college, which was started in year 2006, with 158 students had now grown to 583 putting tremendous pressure on the limited facilities.

Mrs. Osabutey said there was an urgent need for additional classroom hence the decision by the management to undertake the project.

It is being funded from the school’s own internally-generated funds together with public donations.

She spoke of their determination to do everything to make sure that the building was successfully completed and appealed to individuals and corporate bodies to join in the effort.

She announced that the fifth batch of registered midwifery students, presented for the licensing examination in last August, scored 100 per cent pass with some of them receiving distinction.
