Slash in polling stations linked to budget cut

The Electoral Commission (EC) has attributed the reduction in the number of polling stations from 30 thousand to twenty nine thousand to a cut in its budget. 

The EC had requested one-point-seven billion cedis for the 2016 election but parliament approved a little over eight hundred million Ghana cedis. But the EC says the reduction will not affect the 2016 polls. 

Speaking on the outcome of yesterday’s IPAC meeting in Accra, the Principal Public Relations Officer at the EC, Sylvia Annor explains what happened at the meeting.
