3rd Session of 6th Parliament of 4th Republic draws down curtain for 2015 The Third Session of the Sixth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana has come to a close. Drawing down the curtain on the House’s activities for the year, the Majority Leader, Alban Bagbin bemoaned the annual presentation of the National Budget late in the year. He said, in order to work on it well, Members of Parliament need about three months to do due diligence on the budgetary estimates before approval. He said even though the meeting was short, it was eventful with the high points being the opening of the Job 600 office complex, the presentation and approval of the 2016 Budget and the passage of very essential Bills. The Minority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu commended the various Committees for going the extra mile to ensure the budget was approved. He expressed concern about the attrition rate in the house where seasoned members are voted out of the House. He suggested that the various political parties should start putting in place structures to ensure more experienced MPs are retained in the House to enhance institutional memory and ensure quality Parliamentary democracy. The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho said Members of Parliament will soon be schooled in a bid to improve upon their delivery as legislators. He said the E-Parliament project will be fully rolled out next year. GBC
