EC Says Reduction Of Polling Centres Will Not Affect 2016 Polls

The Electoral Commission has attributed the reduction in the number of polling stations from 30,000 to 29,000 to a cut in its budget. 

The EC had requested GH¢1.7bn for the 2016 election but parliament approved a little over GH¢800m. 

But the EC says the reduction will not affect the 2016 polls. 

Speaking on the outcome of Tuesday’s IPAC meeting in Accra, the Principal Public Relations Officer at the EC, Sylvia Annor explains what happened at the meeting. 

Meanwhile, political parties have expressed satisfaction with the outcome of an IPAC meeting Tuesday. 

They say measures by the EC will help ensure incident free elections. 

The Director of Research of the NDC, Dr William Ahadzi said there was consensus on most of the issues.

The National Chairman of the PNC, Bernard Mornah was satisfied with the definition of over voting by the EC.

The National Secretary of the PPP, Mutala Mohammed noted that PPP will structure its activities to fit that of the EC.
