EC demands GH¢1.2 billion to conduct 2016 election

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei says, the EC needs one -point -two billion Cedis to run the 2016 election. 
 
She says the money excludes the budget for preparing a new voters register if the decision is made to have one.  

She said the amount being requested will go into election funding and administrative cost for the commission.
  
Mrs. Osei said this as she briefed parliament on the EC's preparations towards the elections.

Mrs. Osei said a decision on the demand for a new voters register will be made by the end of the month.

On staffing for the election, Mrs. Osei said the EC is going to ensure that they choose highly qualified people with integrity.

Mrs. Osei also gave the program outlook of the commission for the election.

On special voting, she indicated the intention of the EC to seek an amendment to the Law so as to allow the media to partake in the special voting.
