The Minister Power Dr Kwabena Donko , has asked power consumers to adopt greater efficiency I energy use in order to contains the increasing cost of power provision.

He said in the current energy generation mix the contribution of hydro sources the cheapest sources of energy generation is diminishing, which requires consumers to brace themselves for a tariff regime that will reflect the cost of power supply.

He said a behavioral change will help to minimize power use, and therefore minimize the impact of electricity-cost and also reduce the national aggregate demanded Kwabena Donko said despite the increment in power usage, the amount consumers pay for electricity is fa below what it costs to produce power, and it about time the country charts a parth for a cost-reflective regime.

Meanwhile president Mahama has been spealy about effort at necessary generation capacity to make the county net export of power in the long run.
