Defeated PNC Chair aspirant to drag Party to Court for contemp


A PNC National Chairman aspirant, David Apasara has threatened to haul the party before court for contempt.

Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs Program, Focus, Mr. Apasara said, last weekend's congress in Wa in the Upper West Region was an illegality and he does not recognise its outcome.

Mr Apasara insisted that the congress was illegal and is hopeful that the court will declare it so. 

He said, when a fresh congress is organised, he will win. 

David Apasara, who was hoping to be elected as National Chairman, went to court to seek an interlocutory injunction to stop the PNC from holding last Saturday’s congress.

The aspirant request  his contender, Mr. Bernard Monarh, who was eventually elected the National Chairman, be disqualified because he presented a dud cheque to the party while filing his nomination.

David Apasara argued that Mornarh’s action breaches the PNC’s constitution hence must be disqualified.

But the PNC defied the court action and held the congress last Saturday despite receiving the summons six days before the congress.

But the newly elected National Organiser of the PNC, Desmond Twumasi  Ntow, described the congress as the best ever  in the history of the party and called for cool heads to prevail in the party. 

According to him, the PNC is in line to becoming the 3rd force in Ghanaian politics.

On the decision of the 2012 flagbearer, Hassan Ayariga to break away, both Mr. Apasara and Mr. Twumasi Ntow agreed that that is not the way to go.
 
Mr. Apasara said it is better Mr. Ayariga stays and correct the wrongs in the party.
 
Mr. Twumasi Ntow disputed the claim that the elections were not free and fair.
