LEAP beneficiaries to receive cash through electronic payment system


Beneficiaries of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program will from next year receive their cash through the electronic payment system to reduce challenges associated with the manual payment mechanism. 

In line with this, two hundred and fifty computers and smart phones will be distributed to LEAP offices in the beneficiary districts to facilitate quality services delivery. 

The Acting Director of the Department of Social Development, Comfort Asare disclosed this in Tamale in a speech read on behalf of the Minister of Gender Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur at the annual review of the LEAP programme.

According to her, service providers have been identified in the beneficiary districts where cash will be paid through every two months. 

She noted that, the Ministry introduced the electronic payment system following several reported cases on the manual payment system. 

She urged beneficiaries to stay focused as the new mechanism has come to address challenges they go through before receiving their cash.
