WAEC Releases Withheld 2015 BECE Results

The Deputy Registrar of Test Development Division of the West Africa Examinations Council, Anthony Kofitse says results of the about six thousand candidates withheld by the council have been released, though that of some candidates has been cancelled. 

Mr Kofitse who made this known on Radio Ghana's Current Affairs programme “Focus”, said candidates in this year’s BECE performed better in some subjects compared to that of last year.

Mr Kofitse said poor spelling ability of candidates can affect the outcome of results in examinations. 

He asked teachers to help students to know the right spelling of words for effective communication. 

The President of the Coalition of Parents of Students in Private Institutions, Dr Simon Gbene who contributed to the programme via telephone said to help avoid cheating at examinations, the invigilator is key and therefore asked the West Africa Examinations Council to involve the Bureau of National Investigations, BNI, to do thorough background checks of those selected to invigilate during such examinations.
