Health Ministry to establish Scientific Research Institute for Traditional Medicines

The Ministry of Health says it will set up a special institute for scientific research into the esoteric aspect of traditional and complementary medicines.

In addition, the ministry would also develop a specific legal framework and the modalities to protect intellectual property rights of traditional medicine practitioners.

Health Minister Mr. Alex Segbefia announced this at the commemoration of 13th African Traditional Medicine Day and the celebration of 16th Traditional Medicine Week of Ghana, in Cape Coast.
