LEAP program expected to reach 200,000 beneficiaries by end of 2015

Inmates of the Schoonhoven Cured Lepers Village in Ho who are beneficiaries of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty program, (LEAP), have received their benefits. 

This follows the disbursement of the 38th cycle of the LEAP program Monday. 

The Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dela Sowah, who made the payment, said the program is expected to reach two hundred thousand beneficiaries by the end of December this year. 

She disclosed that the number of beneficiaries at the Village has increased from 222 to 365. 

She said about nine thousand beneficiaries will be covered in the Volta Region. 

According to her, all the beneficiaries will be paid based on the upward adjustment to the grants made by government. 

The LEAP program is a social intervention by government to help the poorest and most disadvantaged families in Ghana.
