GSA reacts to ban on vegetable exports to EU The Public Relations Director, of the Ghana Standards Authority, Dr Kofi Amponsah Bediako says it is unfortunate that a ban has been placed on the country`s vegetable exportation. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Bediako said the ban will affect all those involved in the value chain and that is why all stakeholders will have to respect and apply standards. He called on all the inspectorate units of vegetable exports to be strict in their work to avoid a repetition of the situation. Government has temporary banned the export of selected vegetables to the European market. The ban followed the advice of the Food and Veterinary office (FVO) of the European Commission due to non-adherence to safety standards. The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Fifi Kwetey who announced this at a news conference attributed this to lack of discipline amongst exporters in the face of strict guidelines. GBC
