Public Outraged After Watching Anas' Video On Corruption In Judiciary

Huge crowd of ecstatic patrons Tuesday thronged the Accra International Conference Centre to watch the much talked about video on alleged judicial corruption. 

People from all walks of life formed long winding queues at the forecourt of the venue, looking excited and privileged to watch the premiering of the Anas video titled "Ghana in the Eyes of God - Epic of Injustice”. 

The two-year investigative piece of Anas Aremeyaw Anas shows 12 High Court Judges, 22 circuit court Judges and magistrates as well as court officials and police officers allegedly taking bribes to set people free from crimes they have committed. 

Anas himself was at the venue with a number of dignitaries. 

The video was screened amidst tight security. It would be showed again on Wednesday. 

Many Ghanaians who thronged the Accra International Conference Center, AICC, expressed shock, disappointment and utter dismay following the revelations in the video.

Meanwhile, another suit filed by some fourteen lower court judges and magistrates to restrain the Judicial Council from further hearing of the bribery allegation against them has been adjourned to the 25th of this month. 

The fourteen, who are part of the twenty-two circuit court judges and magistrates implicated in Anas' video, are challenging the procedure adopted by the Chief Justice in addressing their issue. 

They are contending that the procedure is flawed and therefore unlawful. 

The plaintiffs therefore want a halt to the committee's sitting. Acting Solicitor General Helen Sewu, in a response, has also filed an application to strike out the pleadings of the plaintiffs which she described as frivolous and without merit. 

The application was however short served as the plaintiffs received a copy at 9:15am Tuesday when the court was in session instead of the seven day period stipulated by law. 

This called for an adjournment to enable the plaintiffs to study and respond to it accordingly.
