Retaining parliamentary seat for NDC my major concern - Nii Armah Ashietey 


The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Klottey Klorley constituency Hon. Nii Armah Ashiettey has says he is confident of winning the primaries of the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) slated for November this year.

According to him retaining the seat for his party in the next general elections is his major concern, the reason he is determined to win the party's primaries comprehensively and continue to win the general elections 'one touch'.

He said "I have worked diligently and selflessly to keep the party afloat in the constituency therefore, I am solidly in the race and I will shock Zenator come the D. Day."

Speaking to the media, the former Labour Relations Minister said his hard work and the unwavering loyalty he has exhibited over the years at both national and local levels of the party make him the obvious choice for the people of the constituency.

"My focus is not on any individual, I am thinking about making life better for the general masses of Klottey Korle by tackling the deficit in education, health, employment and sanitation."

He said he has served the constituents well and has a lot to show for it.

When asked if the daughter of the former president and founder of the NDC Dr. Zenator Agyemang Rawlings was a threat to his ambition of retaining the seat, he said "I will shock Zenator. Take it from me. I am not threatened at all. We will play a fair game and at the end of the race she will call to congratulate me. I however, hope that after the primaries she will still be interested in contributing her quota to the constituency since she has now made it clear that she has an interest in the constituency."

Five people have filed to contest the parliamentary primaries of the NDC in November 2015.

They are Nii Armah Ashietey, Nii John Coleman, Leeford Quashie, Zenator Agyeman Rawlings and Samuel Kwaku.

The Klottey Korle MP said he is working assiduously to win the 2016 parliamentary elections in a big way, as well as increase the presidential votes for President John Dramani Mahama.
