All set for CPP Congress Today AT least 2500 Delegates and other members of the Convention People's Party (CPP) are converging on the Sunyani Polytechnic Campus in the Bono-Ahafo Regional Capital from today for their National Delegates Congress tomorrow Saturday, the 19th of September. Top on the agenda for the Congress is the election of National Executives to steer the affairs of the Party as they prepare for Election 2016. Speaking to the GBC in Sunyani, the Regional Education Officer of the CPP, Alfred revealed CPP Activists in the Region are excited because this is the first time that the Party will be holding its National Delegates Conference in the Bono-Ahafo Region. He said accommodation and other arrangements for the Congress have been made and the Region is awaiting the Delegates who will be arriving in droves from this evening. He revealed that most of the Delegates will be accommodated in the various Halls and Hostels of Sunyani Polytechnic, while others will rely on hotels in Sunyani. Some of the National positions up for grabs include National Chairman, for which CPP stalwart, Dr. Edmund Delle is running unopposed. Then there is the race for the General Secretary position, which is hotly contested by James Kwabena Bonfeh, Kwasi Dede and Nii Armah Akomfrah The Vice Chairman position seems to be the most sought after as seven contestants are jostling it. Other positions which have between three and two contestants are Women's Organizer, Treasurer, Youth Organizer and National Organizer. The Congress will be proceeded by a National Executive Council Meeting, for which a numbers of Regional Chairmen are already in town. Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the CPP, Ivor Greenstreet says the Party is ready for today’s congress in Sunyani. Speaking to Radio Ghana Mr. Greenstreet says some constitutional amendments will be made before the congress. GBC
