President Mahama Cuts Sod For Construction Of Aerodrome In Ho 

President John Dramani Mahama has cut sod for construction of an airport in Ho to facilitate transportation of people and goods in the Volta Region. 

The project will be fully funded by the Ghana Airports Company Limited at a cost of 25 million dollars and is expected to open up the Volta Region and boost agriculture and tourism as well as enhance the socio economic development of the region. 

It will be completed in 15 months. 

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama said the Ho Airport is going to be one of a string of regional airports intended by government to open up the country to aviation services. 

He said the airport will have a terminal building capable of handling one hundred and fifty thousand passengers a year when completed. 

President Mahama said government is committed to ensuring that the airport is completed within schedule.

President Mahama said work will also commence on the temporary terminal building in Wa and will be open for commercial activities by the end of the first quarter of next year. 

President Mahama said government is also working to speed up work on the Eastern corridor road. He touched on other ongoing projects in the region. 

Minister of Transport, Dzifa Ativor , announced that  similar airports will soon be constructed in Upper West, Central and Western Regions. 

She promised to work together with other allied agencies in the aviation sector to complete the project on schedule and hand it over. 

The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede said the sod cutting is timely and important. 

He said the airport will create job opportunities for the people of the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.
