Police to take necessary actions against demonstrators

About 34 demonstrators who were arrested for defying court and police orders have been released on bail.

The demonstrators had wanted to use an unapproved route and get to the EC, contrary to a court injunction, and in the end clashed with the police. 

Director of Police Public Affairs said the police will take every necessary action against all the demonstrators who would have been found guilty of breaching the law after investigations.

Though he admitted that the police used riot control measures and equipment to whip the demonstrators in line, they did not use any live bullets as alleged by some of the demonstrators.
