Epilepsy Project to be replicated  nationwide to improve access to treatment

A four-year pilot project on epilepsy which was undertaken in 10 districts of the country is to be replicated nationwide.

The project was to improve access to care for people living with epilepsy and reduce the gap in the treatment gap of epilepsy in the country. 

Between 2002, when the programme began, and now, the  gap in the treatment of  epilepsy has reduced to 28 per cent in all districts.

At the end of project review workshop in Accra, experts say though treatment is simple and cheap, stigmatization of people living with the condition is preventing them from seeking treatment
