Minority in Parliament raise doubts about free S.H.S by government The Minority caucus in Parliament has raised doubts over the smooth take off of the Free Community Day S.H.S. this year as promised by the government. In this year`s budget, the government devoted 18 million Ghana cedis to start the programme in the 2015/2016 academic year. The NPP MPs say the amount is not enough to fund the education of the more than three hundred and 50 thousand day students who are to benefit from the initiative. They said this at a News Conference at Parliament House in Accra, during which the Ranking Member on the Committee on Education, Professor Dominic Fobih said a number of teething problems must be addressed on the educational front to offer Ghanaians the best. He said the needed infrastructures to house the students are not yet completed although opening of the new academic year is a few days away. The Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu noted that increases in university fees for instance are not commensurate with the wages of parents, a situation he says is a breeding ground for corruption.
