President Mahama cuts sod for construction of cocoa roads in Western Region 

President John Mahama has cut the sod for work to begin on the Benkyema-Osei Kojokrom roads in the Western Region. 

This road links the region to Ivory Coast and other West African Countries. 

Addressing the chiefs and people at Asawinso and Juabeso in the Western Region, President Mahama said government has allocated GH¢3 billion to construct all roads in the six cocoa growing areas in the country for the next five years under the cocoa roads programme. 

He said cocoa is one of the foreign exchange earners of the country and government is committed to constructing and rehabilitating all cocoa roads for easy movement of people and goods. 

President Mahama also reiterated that fertilizers and spraying of cocoa farms are free, adding that no one is expected to pay for it.

President Mahama also mentioned some other roads being constructed. 

Notable among them are Boako Sankore, Akotombra, Sefwi- Wiawso and Dadieso roads. 

He stated that all these roads will be asphalted. 

Meanwhile, President Mahama has also cut sod for work to begin on the Juabeso and other roads. 

He assured the people that contractors are going to be paid without delay. 

He asked constructors to work hard, adding that the community should act as vigilantes on road contractors in the areas.
