'Let My Vote Count' to go on with demo despite injunction

The organisers of the picket, ‘Let My Vote Count’, say they will go ahead with their action tomorrow as planned. 

A statement signed by the conveyner David Asante, said Let My Vote Count is being partnered by Movement for Change, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), CHAMPS, and other associations to undertake tomorrow's exercise.  

The statement said organisers met with the Police and they are ready to provide them with adequate security. It adds that they have agreed on a route.

According to the statement, demonstrators will converge from 6am to 8am on the Obra Spot to begin their march to meet the Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Charlotte Osei and present their petition. 

It said the marchers will be accompanied by drumming and dancing, for their all white protest to drum home the case for a new voters’ register for 2016.

PICKETING EC IS ON WEDNESDAY, SEPT 16 AS PLANNED

The Let my Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), Movement for Change, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), CHAMPS, and other associations, the organisers of the unprecedented picketing at EC tomorrow, will like to assure the general public that the event is coming on as planned. 

We have met with the Police and they are ready to provide us with adequate security. And we have agreed on a route.

We will converge from 6am to 8am at the Obra Spot on Wednesday, September 16 to begin our march to meet the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei, to picket the Commission and present our petition. Accompanied by drumming and dancing, our all white protest is to drum home the case for a new voters’ register for 2016.

We will like to assure all Ghanaians, especially those who want to join this peaceful and important picket that the programme is coming on as planned. 

All those coming in from the other regions should converge at Obra Spot, Circle.
