4 remand prisoners break jail in Zuarungu -Report


Four remand prisoners are on the run after breaking jail in Zuarungu in the Upper East region.

It is not clear the circumstances leading to their escape. 

Reports say the incident that occurred last Sunday night has thrown the community into a state of fear as the suspects are known to be hardened criminals.

A reporter with an Accra based  Starr FM in the Upper East region, Edward Adeti reports that “it happened overnight and the entire community and the police are looking for them.”

“I am personally not surprised because there are massive cracks in the walls of the cell so it appears quite easy for anyone who is intended to break it and escape,” Adeti reported.

He said the police station is located in a marshy area where finding escapees appear almost impossible.
