WAFA host Hearts of Oak at Sogakope


WAFA will host Hearts of Oak in the last game of the season which is match day 30 of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League at Sogakope on Sunday.

The first game between the two sides in the opening day of the season was played at the Kpando Park due to a home ban imposed on the Accra giants. The Phobians beat WAFA 1-0 thanks to Gilbert Fiamenyo’s second half strike.

It will be a game that the Academy boys can’t afford to lose due to close nature of the points build up on the log sheet, but a win or draw for them will secure their premiership status. However WAFA could be relegated should they lose against Hearts of Oak depending on the other results. So WAFA have everything to play for at their favourite Astroturf at Sogakope.

Hearts of Oak have been very strong in their last five premier league games, winning 4 and drawing 1 as they currently sit 5th position on the league log with 42 points on the log sheet and they will be seeking a win at Sogakope in order to seal a top four finish at the end of the season.

The Phobains despite been safe on the log sheet have set a target to beat WAFA to finish among the top four teams.

Also on Sunday they must win at all cost against the Academy boys because in their current accumulated points they won a protest against Kotoko which awarded them 3 points and the Kumasi based club have appealed against the decision, so in case the Phobians lose the appeal, 3 points will be deducted from their points build-up and will drop to 39 points, if they lose against WAFA.

WAFA in the first round of the league were delight to watch but they failed to maintain their impressive form in the second round of the league dropping points both home and away.
