NDC extends closing date for filing of nominations for Ashanti Region

The filing of nominations for the NDC Presidential and Parliamentary primaries has ended in all the regions except Ashanti where it has been extended for a week because of the need to conclude biometric registration. 

Meanwhile, a Vice -Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo says the final day for the filling of nominations has gone well so far in all nine regions except in the Ashanti Region. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said vetting of nominees will begin next week. 

NDC closed the filing of nominations for Presidential and Parliamentary elections on Thursday.

President Mahama remains the only candidate who has filed to contest the party's Presidential primaries. 

Notable among those who have already filed to contest the parliamentary primaries are Foreign Minister Hannah Tetteh, Majority leader Alban Bagbin, MP for Ningo Prampram - E.T.Mensah and MP for Zebilla - Cletus Avoka.
