Radio Presenter, King George Abanga killed


A Presenter at Success FM, at Goaso in the Asunafo North Municipality of Bono-Ahafo,  King George Abanga has been shot and killed by armed robbers on the Sankore -Kwapong trunk road on Thursday afternoon.   

According to a Police source at Goaso, King George was shot by the robbers when he tried to evade their road block on his motor bike.  

According to the Police source, the robbers had been targeting a COCOBOD District Officer who they believed to have withdrawn a huge sum of money at a bank at Sankore.  

They therefore mounted a road block and attempted to rob the D. O., but his driver of the vehicle with registration number, AW4155-12, managed to escape although the robbers blew out a couple of tyres with gunfire.  

The robbers then proceeded to stop other cars plying the road and robbed the motorists and passengers.  

According to the Police, the Presenter, King George, who was enroute from Sankore to Goaso, on a motor bike got to the robbery scene and attempted to outwit the robbers with a burst of speed but was shot and killed.  

His body has since been deposited at the Mortuary at the Goaso Government Hospital while Police investigations are underway.  

According to reports, King George was working on a cocoa related story and had traveled to Sankore to interview some Farmers.  King George, got married last year and has a little child.
