Vice President meets University of Pennsylvania students

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has granted audience to a young Ghanaian street boy from Tarkwa Breman who has graduated as a scientist from the University of Pennsylvania and his six other friends at the Flagstaff House in Accra.  

Shadrack Frimpong, who emerged one of the top graduating students, has decided to use his undisclosed prize money to build a model girls school and a clinic at Tarkwa Bremang in the Western Region. 

A junior biology major, Shadrack Frimpong also pursued a research fellowship at Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland. 

He recounted his life story as a school dropout in Tarkwa Breman due to poverty and how he progressed to Opoku Ware School in Kumasi with the help of COCOBOD Government scholarship. His academic prowess continued at Opoku Ware School and through the appeal of the headmaster, he was assisted to sit for the Standard Assessment Test (SAT), which he came out with flying colours and subsequently gained admission to the University of Pennsylvania.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur described the story of Shadrack Frimpong as incredible and exemplary. 

The Vice President later hosted Shadrack Frimpong and his colleagues to a lunch.
