Smock wearing initiative launched to aid local industries The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has entreated Ghanaians to wear Smock or Batakari on the first Friday of every month in support of local industries. She said wearing of the attire locally and internationally will help promote the unique identity of Ghanaians. The weaving of Kente which is used to sow Batakari is predominant in the three regions of the north, Volta region and some parts of Ashanti. Launching the Batakari Friday in Accra, the Minister said buying and wearing of Batakari once every month will help create jobs and make rural-urban migration unattractive. GBC
