Emil Short calls for effective legislation on asset declaration

Former Commission of CHRAJ, Justice Emil Short, is calling for a more effective legislation which will compel political and other public office holders to declare their assets. 

He said as the law stands now, there is no institution mandated to verify the assets declared by these public office holders. Also it is not mandatory to publish the assets declared.

Speaking in reaction to the Nigerian's President Mahamadu Buhari and his vice declaring their assets, Mr Short commended the Nigerian leaders and said their action is worth emulating by other leaders.
