TAMALE: 7 persons including incumbent NDC MP pick nomination forms


The NDC Parliamentary Primaries in the Mion Constituency of the Northern Region is getting hotter.  

So far, seven people including the incumbent MP for the area, Dr. Alhasan Ahmed Yakubu have picked up nomination forms to contest in the upcoming NDC parliamentary primaries slated for November 7th.  

The latest to join the growing list is a former teacher of President John Dramani Mahama and secretary to the Paramount Chief of Sagnarigu, Alhaji Munkaila Zakaria. 

He is however, not worried about the long list as he is confident of winning the Primaries. 

Alhaji Zakaria was born in 1952 in Sambu in the Mion District of the Northern regions. As an indigene of the area, the development of the people has always been his focus. 

He has undertaken various development projects in the area including roofing a school building that was ripped off by a rainstorm recently. 

Contesting the parliamentary seat is therefore part of efforts to achieve this dream. Alhaji Zakaria was accompanied by some party faithful and indigenes of Sagnerigu as they marched through the principal streets of Mion.  

The constituency secretary, Alidu Inusah who presented the nomination forms to the MP hopeful advised all the aspirants to embark on a campaign devoid of insults, lies and character assassination. 

The NDC opened nomination a week ago for the party`s November 7 presidential and parliamentary primaries. 

Nominations are scheduled to close on Thursday, September 10. Parliamentary aspirants are expected to pick forms at the constituency offices and presidential aspirants at the Party`s headquarters.
