4th September, 2015 The Daily Graphic calls on stakeholders such as traditional authorities, estate developers and government to work together to achieve the right policies to improve land tenure in Ghana. The Paper attributes the poor land tenure system to the lack of housing policy that ensures that everyone is comfortably housed and the manner in which government has conducted its compulsory acquisition of land as allowed by the 1992 constitution. The Graphic says the Land Administration Project initiated by government to simplify the process for accessing land and making it fair, transparent and efficient must be made to work to end the needless demolition of properties and loss of lives. The Ghanaian Times is appalled at the failure of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to post about 1,500 Environmental Health Officers, four years after graduation. According to the Paper, this is not only worrying, but also unacceptable for a country facing an acute shortage of environment health officers. It says unless there is a very convincing explanation for this situation, this is yet another huge institutional failure. The Paper views the failure of the institution concerned to employ the graduates as an act of sabotage, and they should be prevailed upon to engage the graduates immediately. GBC
