President Mahama Sees Off First Batch of 2015 Hajj Pilgrims The First batch of 450 pilgrims out of more than Five thousand to be airlifted to Jeddah Saudi Arabia for this year's Hajj left Accra last night. President John Dramani Mahama was at the Hajj village in Accra to bid them farewell. He assured the muslim community that next year all would-be-pilgrims from the Northern sector of the country will fly directly from the Tamale Airport to Jeddah Saudi Arabia. President Mahama recounted the ordeal muslims used to go through anytime they embarked on the Hajj. Not only that but also the despicable insanitary conditions they had to battle with. Since 2009, the government has been working closely with the office of the national Chief Imam to make the Hajj peaceful and stress-free. President Mahama said the government will continue to work with the National Hajj Board to continually improve the annual pilgrimage. The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu prayed for the pilgrims. The next batch of 450 will leave tonight. GBC
