ECOBANK Ghana wins 'Bank of the Year' at 14th Ghana Banking Awards ECOBANK Ghana has won Bank of the Year for the year 2014 at the 14th Ghana Banking Awards ceremony held last Saturday at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. The Bank also won first place for financial performance and enterprise financing. The event organized by Corporate Initiative Ghana with the partnership of Graphic Business, was under the theme: Identifying and Rewarding Excellence in the Banking Services Proposition. Ecobank recently picked an international award by finance magazine, Euromoney. According to organizers of the Awards Corporate Initiative Ghana, a careful assessment was done on the published financial results of 28 banks. The views from more than 6000 corporate and retail clients also informed the decision. Corporate Initiative Ghana also explained that ECOBANK took the topmost award because they won in categories that had a strong weighting like Corporate Social Responsibility and Financial Performance. Executive Director and Head of Domestic Banking at ECOBANK Ghana, George Mensah Asante attributes the win to customer service and product innovation. Officials of the bank also believe their customer service approach and product innovation engineered the success. Other big winners for the night, were Royal bank which was adjudged best bank in five categories - Customer Care, Advisory Services, Growing bank and Retail Finance and Long-term Mortgage Finance. Barclays Bank Ghana was adjudged best in Trade Deal of the Year, Agricultural Financing went to ADB. Stanbic Bank picked up the award as Best Trade Finance bank, GCB was adjudged best in E-commence, Best E-ZWICH Bank went to UT BANK.
