More than 5,000 Ghanaian Muslims prepare to travel to Mecca for Hajj

A large number of Muslims the world over have begun their annual journeys to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to begin processes for this year’s Hajj to Mecca and Madina which  falls between September 20 and September 25. 

Muslims in Asian nations of India, Pakistan and some African countries like Ghana and Nigeria with large contingents have already begun traveling to the holy land. 

According to sources close to the Hajj Committee in Ghana some 5,400 Ghanaian pilgrims would begin travelling by air to Saudi Arabia from September 3. 

The Saudi Arabia airliner, Nas Air which has been engaged to convey the Ghanaian pilgrims will embark on a daily flight to be able to carry all the pilgrims on time to the holy land. 

As part of the Hajj programme, a seminar would be held by the Hajj Committee to sensitise the pilgrims especially ‘first timers’ to the rudiments of the Hajj. 

Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca and a mandatory religious programme for Muslims at least once in their lifetime by all adults who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey, and can support their family during their absence.
