Doctors Resume Work Today Following a Three Week Strike


The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) will this today Monday August 24, 2015 restore full services following its three week old strike.

A statement issued by the Association and jointly signed by its President Dr Kwabena Opoku Adusei and General Secretary Dr Frank Serebour however, said negotiations with government on their conditions of service will continue.

According to the GMA the decision follows appeals from members of the public, the clergy, and the National House of Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Government says it will restart negotiations on conditions of service for public sector doctors today.

Public sector doctors have been on strike for about three weeks now over codified conditions of service.

The strike also led to the suspension of Out-Patients Department and emergency care service.
