WHO, UG collaborate to train health workers in disease outbreak response 

The World Health Organisation (WHO), and the School of Public Health at the University of Ghana (UG), have signed an agreement to begin short courses in Public Health Surveillance and Disease out-break and response.  

In furtherance of this, the Japanese government is assisting the programme with about 800 thousand dollars. 

The amount will be used to train 165 front-line health workers from five regions. 

At the signing ceremony in Accra, the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Kaoru Yoshimura, acknowledged the contribution of the Noguchi Memorial Institute in testing samples for Ebola virus within the country and for neighbouring countries.
