South Sudan's warring leaders to sign compromise deal

South Sudan's warring rivals today held peace talks in a bid to broker a deal to end the civil war, hours ahead of deadline to avoid possible UN sanctions. 

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said President Salva Kiir and rebel chief Riek Machar met alongside regional Leaders in Ethiopia, under intense diplomatic pressure to sign a deal. 

Mr Kiir who initially said he would not attend the talks, arrived in Ethiopia complaining it is not possible to strike an effective deal because rebel forces are split.
