Individuals & groups continue to appeal to striking doctors to resume work



More individuals and groups continue to appeal to the striking doctors to resume work while negotiating with government over their condition of service now that government has responded with alternative proposals. The latest to do so is the Head of Brotherhood Church Primate Samuel Adofo. 

According to him though the doctors have legitimate claim, the lives lost during the course of the industrial action are irreversible and therefore asked that the doctors call off the strike in the interest of humanity and resume negotiations.
 
Primate Adofo was worried over politicisation of the issue which impact on society is disastrous. He called for an end to all labor agitations while government remains committed to workers welfare to ensure sustained peace and stability.
 
For his part the Head of the New Jerusalem Temple at Ampeyoo near Kumasi Bishop Yaw Adu said the implementation of the Single Spine Salary regime meant to address labor unrest is rather compounding issues due to  the disparity in workers income that it fails to resolve. 

He therefore called on the Fair Wages and salaries Commission to do the right thing to reduce labour agitations. 

Bishop Yaw Adu asked the President to personally intervene in the ongoing doctors’ impasse as the long delay in resolving the issue is not in the national interest. 

A renowned Cocoa Farmer at Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of Ashanti Moses Darko asked the doctors to temper justice with mercy and resume work. 

He said people living in the rural communities especially farmers who are extremely poor are at the receiving end anytime that medical practitioners are on strike. 

Mr. Darko noted that the call on the doctors to comply with their earlier pledge to resign on block when their demands are not met at a specific period as most unfortunate as any such action could spell doom for the nation.
 
He therefore commended the doctors for resorting to an alternative plan but must be moderate in their negotiations with government.
