FMC urges doctors to call off strike

The Federation of Muslim Councils (FMC) has expressed concern about the spate of strikes by worker unions in the country, the most prominent being that by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) over Conditions of Service for doctors in the public sector. 

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Hajj Muhammad Kpakpo Addo, the Federation described as sad the abrupt end of negotiation between government and the GMA leading to continuous loss of innocent lives. 

The statement appealed to the GMA to call off the strike and restore Out-Patient and emergency services in public health facilities while they continue negotiating with government. 

The FMC further called on government to continue with the negotiations for a just and mutual end to the crisis. 

The FMC appealed to the public, especially social commentators, to be circumspect in their statements for and against the doctors.
