Ghana Embassy in Angola secures release of four Ghanaian stowaways

The Ghana Embassy in Angola has successfully secured the release of four Ghanaian stowaways and they are expected back in Accra on Wednesday. 

They are Paul Mensah, John Mensah, Patrick Mensah and Michael Amos. 

Ghana's Ambassador to Angola, Moses Mabengba told Radio Ghana that the four left Luanda Wednesday morning via South Africa to Accra by South African Airlines. 

He said following an appeal by the Ghana Embassy to the UN systems in Angola, the International Organisation for Migration, I.O.M- office bought tickets for them to travel back to Accra. 

Ghana's Mission also bought new clothing for them. It will be recalled that the four Ghanaian stowaways from Takoradi were thrown off a ship off the coast of Angola near the border with Namibia on the 12th of July. 

The Ghana Embassy in Angola gave the name of the ship as Panama Nore Vide with Filipinos as crew members. 

The four were reported to have rowed for four hours on an old raft given them by the crew. 

They were later spotted by Angolan fishermen who brought them ashore.
