Poultry farmers worried over low education on bird flu Poultry farmers in the country have raised red flags about a potential bird flu epidemic because of inadequate sensitisation to educate them on the disease. According to the farmers, the situation could be worse than the reported cases because some of them do not really understand the problem, and those who have had their birds killed after reporting cases of the outbreak have still not been compensated yet. The farmers in an interview said such a situation does not motivate poultry farmers to report the outbreak of the disease on their farms. The farmers say if stringent measures are not taken now, the country would be heading towards an epidemic. Already, there is an increase in the number of bird flu strain in the Greater Accra Region.
