Ivorian President pledges peaceful presidential election

Cote d'Ivoire's President Alassane Ouattara has pledged that presidential election which is scheduled to take place in October this year will be held in a peaceful atmosphere. 

The October 25 poll is seen to be crucial for stability after a decade of political and military crisis in that country. 

President Ouattara's comments come as the country marks 55 years of independence. 

He said he is committed to ensuring that the elections will be free, open, transparent and democratic. 

He said he has directed his government to take all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of Ivorians, come October 25.
