Six Months Maternity Leave Is A Must – Experts Exclusive breast feeding has been cited as an essential practise especially in the first six months of a child's life. Globally, two million infant deaths are averted annually due to effective breast feeding. In this regard, stakeholders within the health sector have agreed that it is about time Ghana adopted the 'ILO convention 183' that lactating mothers should be given fourteen weeks leave so that they could engage in exclusive breastfeeding.
