MMDAs challenged to show commitment towards HIV related activities Municipal and District Assemblies, MMDAs in the Upper West Region have been tasked to show commitment towards HIV related activities in their jurisdiction. The call was informed by a steady increase in the prevalence of HIV from zero-point-eight percent in 2013 to one-point-six percent in 2014 after a survey by the Ghana AIDS Commission on two urban towns in the region. The Technical Coordinator of the Ghana Aids Commission for the Brong Ahafo and Upper West Regions, Welbeck Amoani Twum, speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting at Wa noted that efforts at controlling the disease have reduced as the prevalence level enjoyed significant decrement over the years.
